The Lytton area was devastated by a wildfire in the summer of 2020, and the canyon still wears the scars of the fire, with scorched trees and brush along the right of way. Two years after this fire we catch CN Q 10451 02 rolling down the CP Thompson Sub, as another fire rages in the mountains above Lytton, creating overcast conditions on an otherwise sunny day in the canyon.

Looking like a classic prairie grain train of yesteryear (minus the GEVo!), G 84252 07 holds the main at Bruce, Alberta with 100 Saskatchewan cylindrical hoppers on the headend. All cars wear MGLX (Mobil Grain) reporting marks and many of the various Saskatchewan schemes to adorn these quintessentially Canadian grain cars. CPKC 21B-30 sits in the siding at Banff for a meet with hotshot 112-29. Following three tonnage grain trains west, 21B could afford a bit of a delay at Banff to meet 112, by Eldon they would have caught up to the last train before picking up their passengers at Lake Louise for an evening round trip to Banff and back.

CPKC 118-31 grinds upgrade out of Medicine Hat with a colourful lashup. KCS 5003, KCS 4001, CP 8773 and CP 8752. The two CP units will come off at Swift Current to power up a grain train.
